Quelques jours avant la sortie du nouveau film Star Wars (Le réveil de la Force), Rabbi Knott, rabbin dans une synagogue de Richmond en Virginie, a tenu une conférence sur le thème » Star Wars et mon âme juive « . L’invitation comportait un sous-titre explicatif : » Dans la Torah d’une galaxie très, très lointaine, nous explorerons comment Star Wars se relie au judaïsme « .
Rabbi Knott est loin d’être le seul a établir un tel lien. On peut notamment citer le site d’Aish HaTorah qui a publié une étude sur le sujet, reliant « la Force » des chevaliers Jedi de Star Wars à certains enseignements hassidiques. Quant au maître Yoda de la saga holywoodienne, il évoquerait l’hébreu « Yodéa » (« celui qui sait « ).
Sur le site juif aish.fr, Daniel Perez a écrit que » certains aspects de l’univers de Star Wars sont étrangement similaires à l’histoire, aux croyances et aux enseignements des Juifs « . Daniel Perez faisait notamment la comparaison entre Star Wars et… la fête juive de Hanoucca. Un parallèle suggéré également par le CRIF via l’illustration ci-dessous diffusée sur les réseaux sociaux par le CRIF.
Et Daniel Perez de conclure son analyse sur aish.fr :
« Alors, si vous regardez le nouvel épisode de Star Wars, dirigé par Jeffrey Jacob Abrams (un nom on ne peut plus juif…) vous serez peut-être à même de relever et d’apprécier le parfum étonamment juif de l’univers Star Wars. »
Nous avions déjà évoqué les références juives d’une autre production de science-fiction, la fameuse série Star Trek.
