Volkswagen prépare une nouvelle campagne publicitaire pour le lancement de sa voiture électrique. Selon Auto Evolution, Volkswagen ferait appel pour l’occasion à deux anciennes vedettes de la série télévisée Star Trek. Auto Evolution explique ce choix par le fait que le « salut vulcain » popularisé par la série Star Trek ressemblerait au logo VW.
Mais Times of Israël fait une autre analyse quant à ce choix publicitaire. Selon ce média israélien, Volkswagen courtiserait depuis quelques années le marché juif qui lui est peu ouvert en raison de l’histoire des origines de la marque allemande qui répondait à un souhait d’Adolf Hitler de concevoir une voiture populaire.
Times of Israël rappelle qu’en 2011, Volkswagen avait offert un million de dollars à l’Anti-Defamation League fondée par le B’nai B’rith. Times of Israël ajoute que VW a également offert l’année dernière plus d’un million de dollars en faveur d’un centre international de la jeunesse à Auschwitz.
Toujours selon Times of Israël, William Shatner et Leonard Nimoy, les deux vedettes de la série Star Trek, sont des acteurs juifs. Et le « salut vulcain » de la série ferait référence « à un signe de la bénédiction juive – deux mains formant la lettre hébraïque Shin – qui apparaît fréquemment sur des pierres tombales juives« .
