Les télévisions sont de plus en plus « intelligentes », parait-il. Les télécommandes vous proposent de plus en plus de fonctionnalités. Mais au nom d’un prétendu confort, la télévision peut aussi devenir… un espion à domicile.
Le fabriquant sud-coréen Samsung a révélé que certaines fonctionnalités liées à la télécommande audio pourraient permettre d’enregistrer les conversations des utilisateurs !
Le mode d’emploi qui accompagne les nouvelles télévisions conseille aux utilisateurs de ne pas parler de « choses personnelles ou sensibles » devant leur écran afin d’éviter leur enregistrement. Big Brother est dans votre salon !
Le site anglais de Samsung explique que le système de reconnaissance vocale utilisé pour contrôler l’appareil peut transmettre les informations personnelles ou sensibles, de même que certaines commandes, à un service tiers afin de convertir une parole en texte.
Samsung, bien embarrassé, a précisé que les données utilisées par le service de reconnaissance vocale étaient chiffrées et que les seules informations analysées consistaient en des ordres relatifs à la télévision ou des mots clés de recherche.
Le site français de Samsung a, lui, ajouté que l’option de reconnaissance vocale ou la connexion à Internet peuvent être désactivées.
Il n’empêche que vous espionner à partir de votre télévision est bien de l’ordre du possible.
Et Samsung n’est bien sûr pas le premier constructeur à être accusé d’espionnage. LG avait été accusé en novembre 20132 d’espionner ses utilisateurs de télévisions connectées. LG avait été condamné à permettre la désactivation de la fonction de collecte de données.
