Dans le film The Island, des centaines d’hommes sont enfermés dans une gigantesque bulle : ils attendent de pouvoir partir vers « l’Ile » où ils vivront infiniment heureux. En réalité leur départ se fera vers la mort : ils ne sont là que pour servir de réservoir d’organes.
Sans doute a-t-on fait miroiter un avenir meilleur à une fille somalienne n’ayant pas même de nom. Elle sera envoyée en contrebande de la Somalie vers le Royaume-Uni. Le but en était d’enlever les organes principaux de son corps et de les vendre en vue d’une transplantation. En Grande-Bretagne, le trafic d’enfants a augmenté de 50 % en une année et a atteint un niveau record. 371 cas d’enfants servant d’objet sexuel ou d’esclave ont été découverts. Le nombre d’adultes vivant dans de telles conditions serait de 786. Ils venaient du Vietnam, du Nigéria, de la Chine, du Bengladesh et de la Roumanie.
Selon l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé, 7.000 reins ont été obtenus illégalement à fin de greffes. Il existe un véritable marché noir de cœurs, de reins et de poumons ; en réalité une véritable chaîne allant de la capture de la victime jusqu’au médecin qui pratiquera la greffe.
En Grande-Bretagne, l’équivalent de notre ministre de l’Intérieur M. James Brokenshire, a expliqué que tout trafiquant d’êtres humains serait condamné au moins à 14 années de prison. Le reste des contrevenants resteraient en prison durant toute leur vie. Il a déclaré que « l’esclavage était un effroyable mal qui sévissait dans nos milieux ».
