Portugal – Une conférence organisée par le réseau international des législateurs catholiques (ICLN) a réuni divers dirigeants religieux et politiques, dont le Premier ministre hongrois, Viktor Orbán.
L’association organisatrice a été fondée à Vienne en 2010 pour promouvoir les valeurs chrétiennes en politique. Le fonctionnement de cette organisation comprend aussi une rencontre annuelle avec le pape.
Cette année, à la fin du mois d’août, les membres du Réseau international des législateurs catholiques (ICLN) se sont rencontrés comme d’habitude à Fatima. Outre les réunions de travail, un « pèlerinage international de leaders politiques et de chefs religieux » a réuni le Premier ministre hongrois Viktor Orban, le chef de cabinet du président américain Mick Mulvaney, les patriarches des églises orthodoxes et catholiques en Syrie, Ignatius Aphrem II et Yousef III Younan.
L’archevêque de Vienne et l’un des fondateurs du réseau international de législateurs catholiques, Mgr Christoph Schönborn, était un autre participant à l’événement. Il avait reçu l’autorisation de célébrer une messe dans la basilique Notre-Dame du Rosaire jeudi.
L’ICLN se définit sur son site comme une organisation internationale « indépendante et non partisane » qui vise à former des hommes politiques dans les domaines de « la foi, l’éducation et la fraternité ». « Les députés, les représentants des gouvernements, les membres du clergé et les experts sont invités à titre personnel . La participation présuppose un profil clairement catholique ou chrétien qui se reflète dans les procès-verbaux de vote ou les déclarations publiques, notamment en ce qui concerne le caractère sacré de la vie humaine, la véritable nature du mariage et de la famille et l’engagement de défendre la liberté fondamentale de la religion « , déclare l’ICNL, qui rappelle que également que les chrétiens représentent le « groupe religieux le plus persécuté au monde ».
Les préoccupations de l’organisation ne se limitent pas à la sécurité des chrétiens du monde entier. Le site présente également des positions sur la défense de la famille traditionnelle, la lutte contre l’avortement, l’euthanasie et le suicide assisté.
