Surprenante victoire de pro-vie à la Chambre des représentants brésilienne où le mouvement a réussi à empêcher la création d’une « Commission de la femme » à la Chambre, par laquelle devaient transiter les projets de loi sur l’idéologie du genre et les «droits sexuels et reproductifs».
Le bloc féministe, dirigé par le Parti des travailleurs (PT) et le Parti communiste du Brésil (PCdoB), a travaillé durant des mois à un accord multipartite pour approuver la création de cette commission, sans cacher son vrai but. Grâce à l’action massive, systématique et constante du mouvement pro-vie à travers le pays, les députés sont été convaincus que l’avortement frappait à leur porte. Non seulement la stratégie féministe a été stopée, mais la situation a été inversée: le traitement des questions en relation avec les enfants à naitre a été transféré à la Commission de la famille.
Les féministes, furieuses, ont été contraintes de déclarer ouvertement que leur but était de donner à la Commission de la femme le rôle de promouvoir l’avortement comme un droit. Et l’introduction du terme « enfant à naître » affirmant qu’il est une personne humaine avec des droits dès sa conception a accentué la colère des féministes impuissantes.
Le vote final – 275 voix pro-vie contre 107 – a été sans appel mais les féministes ont tenté, par au moins cinq fois, de faire supprimer les amendements, sans succès.
