Riveraine de la place de la République, la comédienne Véronique Genest, comme ses voisins, est excédée par le comportement des sympathisants de Nuit debout. Devant les journalistes, elle parle sans langue de bois. « Ils ont tout pété ! », dénonce-t-elle. « Ils ont tout pété ! Il n’y a plus un distributeur qui marche ! Les commerçants n’ont plus personne ! ». Véronique Genest raconte aussi que les gauchistes forcent des portes d’habitations et de commerces. « Parfois, ils mettent le feu », ajoute-t-elle.
Ne supportant plus le bruit et les dégradations commises sur la place par les participants, Véronique Genest lance un comité de riverains baptisé « République en colère ».
Véronique Genest a enfin souligné que son comité – « République en colère » – était apolitique : « On veut tout le monde ! Il y a des choses qui sont dites. Ce n’est pas parce qu’un tel est FN, ou ultra-gauche ou machin, que ce n’est pas juste. La personne qui va dire : ‘J’habite place de la République et j’en ai ras-le-bol’, qu’elle soit n’importe quoi, je ne veux pas le savoir. Elle en a ras-le-bol et moi aussi ! Peu importe le bord. »
