Le porte-avions Nimitz et les contre-torpilleurs William Lawrence et Stokdale qui l’accompagnent vont quitter l’est de la Méditerranée pour retourner dans une base militaire près de l’État de Washington.Cette force d’attaque de porte-avions reviendra vers les côtes américaines dans les prochaines semaines. Elle va être redirigée vers la base de Bremerton dans l’océan Pacifique.Les contre-torpilleurs Barry et Grawly vont également arrêter leur mise en alerte dans la Méditerranée pour aller dans la base de Norfolk dans l’océan Atlantique. Il va donc rester seulement trois navires de la flotte américaine sur les côtes syriennes : le croiseur Monterey et les contre-torpilleurs Stoute et Ramage.
La menace militaire américaine s’éloigne lentement de la côte syrienne !
