Le milliardaire transgenre Jennifer Pritzker (depuis août 2013), né James Pritzker, est « une » riche héritière de la Famille Pritzker, d’origine juive, propriétaire des hôtels Hyatt et ayant des parts dans différentes banques et entreprises. La Famille Pritzker figure parmi les plus importantes fortunes des Etats-Unis et participe au financement des campagnes d’Hillary Clinton.
Etonnamment, ce milliardaire transgenre a fait une carrière dans l’armée américaine et a notamment servi dans la 82e puis la 101e division aéroportée.
Jennifer Pritzker a fondé la Fondation Tawani qui prétend notamment honorer l’histoire militaire des Etats-Unis. En 2003, la Fondation Tawani avait fait un don de 1,35 million de dollars à l’Université de Californie pour étudier l’insertion des personnes transgenres dans l’armée, la police et les pompiers.
C’est cette même Fondation Tawani qui a fait un don d’un million de dollars pour financer une Chaire d’études transgenres à l’Université de Victoria en Colombie-Britannique au Canada.
Cette Chaire d’études transgenres sera dirigée par le docteur en sociologie Aaron Devor, déjà doyen des études supérieures de cette université et auteur de plusieurs études consacrées au transsexualisme.
