Le 1er juillet, à Erbil, s’est ouverte la Conférence internationale de fondation de la Ligue des Chaldéens, un organisme désiré par le Patriarche de Babylone des Chaldéens, S.B. Louis Raphaël I Sako.
Cette Conférence s’achèvera le 3 juillet. Outre au Patriarche, y participent également des représentants des communautés chaldéennes provenant du monde entier, ainsi que les Evêques chaldéens d’Irak et d’autres venus de l’étranger, comme S.Exc. Mgr Antoine Audo, Evêque chaldéen d’Alep.
L’approbation définitive des règlements de l’association et la création de ses organes internes seront suivies d’une déclaration finale afin de résumer les buts et les domaines d’action de la nouvelle organisation.
L’intention de l’association est surtout d’impliquer des professionnels, des intellectuels et des experts compétents dans les différentes disciplines afin de représenter de manière coordonnée et organique les instances de la communauté chaldéenne au sein de la société civile, au plan local et international.
Les ressources financières de l’organisation devront provenir seulement de donations privées et des cotisations de ses membres.
