Nous avons déjà vu dans un précédent article à quel point l’Europe avait perdu la foi. Le rapport Eastern and Western Europeans differ on imprtance of religion, publié le 20 octobre 2018 par le Pew Research Center montre qu’en ce qui concerne la pratique religieuse, la situation n’est guère meilleure, avec seulement 4 pays (3 catholiques et 1 orthodoxe) dépassant les 41 % de pratique mensuelle :

– Plus de 60 % de pratiquants : Pologne 61 % (catholique).

– Plus de 50 % de pratiquants : Roumanie 50 % (orthodoxe).

– Plus de 40 % de pratiquants : Italie 43 %(catholique), Croatie 40 % (catholique).

– Plus de 35 % de pratiquants : Géorgie 39 %(orthodoxe)., Grèce 38 % (orthodoxe), Irlande 37 % (catholique), Portugal 36 % (catholique), Bosnie-Herzégovine 35 %(musulmane), Moldavie 35 % (orthodoxe). Ukraine 35 % (orthodoxe).

–  Plus de 30 % de participants : Arménie 34 %(orthodoxe), Slovaquie 31 % (catholique), Autriche 30 % (catholique)., Biélorussie 30 %(orthodoxe).

–  Plus de 27 % de participants : Suisse 29 % (protestant), Lituanie 27 % (catholique).

–  Plus de 20 % de participants : Espagne 23 % (catholique), France 22 % (catholique), Royaume-Uni 20 % (protestant).

–  Plus de 16 % de participants : Bulgarie 19 % (orthodoxe), Serbie 19 % (orthodoxe), Pays-Bas 18 % (protestant), Hongrie 17 % (catholique), Russie 17 % (orthodoxe), Lettonie 16 % (protestant), Norvège 16 % (protestant).

–  Plus de 10 % de participants : Danemark 12 % (protestant), Belgique 11 % (catholique), Suède 11 % (protestant), Tchéquie 11 %  (protestant), Estonie 10 % (protestant), Finlande 10 % (protestant).

– Pas de données : Albanie (musulmane), Azerbaïdjan (musulmane), Chypre (orthodoxe), Islande (protestant), Kosovo (musulmane), Luxembourg (catholique)., Macédoine du Nord (orthodoxe), Malte (catholique), Monténégro (orthodoxe)., Slovénie (catholique).

Situation à comparer avec les Etats-Unis, dont l’état le moins croyant est le New Hampshire, dont 72 % des habitants croient en Dieu et où la pratique religieuse est intensive chez plus de 51 % de la population dans 12 états (Arizona, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Montana, New Jersey, Pennsylvanie, Rhode Island), plus de 56 % dans 8 états (Idaho, Dakota du Nord, Michigan, Missouri , Nebraska, Nouveau-Mexique, Ohio, Wyoming),plus de 61 % dans états (Caroline du Nord, Kentucky, Texas, Virginie) plus de 66 % dans cinq états (Caroline du Sud, Dakota du Sud, Géorgie, Oklahoma et Utah), plus de 70 % dans quatre états (Arkansas, Louisiane, Tennessee et Virginie occidentale)  et même plus de 76 % dans deux états (Alabama et Mississippi).
