Dirigée par la Fraternité Saint-Pie X, l’école dispense une formation secondaire (Realschule) et prépare également les élèves du lycée à passer l’examen de la maturité suisse, avec le latin comme matière principale. L’internat peut accueillir environ 140 élèves.
Fondée à l’origine à Mels, elle est installée depuis l’été 2010 dans le bâtiment de l’ancien Institut Fatima de Wangs, non loin de Sargans. Située au pied du massif du Pizol et sur la rive gauche du Rhin, l’école Sainte-Marie est proche de l’Autriche, de la Bavière et du Lichtenstein.
La patronne de l’école est Notre-Dame de Fatima, médiatrice de toutes grâces et dont le Cœur immaculé est un refuge très sûr.
