Pérou – L’archevêque de Lima et Primat du Pérou, le cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani, a visité le 25 novembre, le centre commercial North Plaza, premier centre commercial péruvien de 200.000 m² ayant une chapelle dans ses installations.
La chapelle Notre-Dame de Lorette a été inaugurée en février 2013. Sa présence dans un complexe commercial était voulue par les promoteurs de ce centre commercial.
Le Cardinal Cipriani a été accompagné durant sa visite par le directeur du centre commercial, Erasmo Wong Lu.
L’archevêque de Lima a béni le complexe et les nouvelles installations de la chaîne de télévision Willax Tv.
L’archevêque a constaté que dans un même centre commercial, on trouvait une chapelle, un média et des espaces de divertissement. L’existence d’une chapelle à l’intérieur d’un centre commercial « est un exemple de la reconnaissance par une entreprise péruvienne de l’importance de l’Église dans la vie de ses clients et leur offre un espace leur permettant de vivre leur foi « , a déclaré l’archevêque.
Selon une enquête de juin 2014, 77 % des Péruviens sont catholiques.
