Une explosion a eu lieu, dimanche 24 mai, lors de la liturgie de la première communion d’un groupe d’enfants de l’archidiocèse orthodoxe syrien d’Alep (Syrie), rapporte par le blog d’Alep Hope.
La messe a été interrompue par l’explosion et les enfants ont été conduits de l’église à l’Archevêché. L’explosif a frappé le mur derrière l’autel et gravement endommagé le deuxième étage de l’immeuble où se trouve la bibliothèque de l’archidiocèse, appartenant à Mar Gregorios Yohanna Ibrahim, métropolite syro-orthodoxe d’Alep, qui a été enlevé le 22 Avril 2013.

Cette attaque fait suite à l’enlèvement du prêtre catholique Jacques Mourad, prieur du monastère de Mar Elian à Qaryatayn (centre de la Syrie), à quelques centaines de kilomètres au sud de Palmire, ville prise mercredi par l’État islamique.
