A l’occasion de la fête de Hanoukka, Israël et les États-Unis ont annoncé la création d’un timbre commun pour célébrer 70 ans de relations diplomatiques entre les deux pays. Le design du timbre a été dévoilé lors de cérémonies simultanées aux États-Unis et en Israël. La cérémonie américaine s’est déroulée dans la synagogue Touro, à Newport, dans le Rhode Island, la plus ancienne synagogue d’Amérique du Nord.

« Aujourd’hui, la création de ce timbre commun est le symbole des valeurs partagées et des affinités culturelles entre les États-Unis et Israël », a déclaré l’ambassadeur américain en Israël à la cérémonie qui a eu lieu à Jérusalem.
