L’abbé Bill Miscamble, professeur et doyen du secrétariat d’Histoire à l’Université Notre Dame, dans l’état de Louisiane, aux États-Unis, vient d’être mis à la porte à cause de son attachement à la doctrine catholique.
Il a été prié par l’Université Catholique de ne plus s’occuper d’un site dont il était le responsable et dont le but était celui de soutenir les étudiants et les parents en difficulté et les aider à progresser dans la foi.
Après l’annonce de son départ, le prêtre en question n’a pas voulu répondre aux questions de la presse sur le sujet. Il a juste répondu : « Je suis vraiment désolé, mais je ne peux faire aucun commentaire à ce sujet car je ne suis pas libre de dire pourquoi ». L’Université soi-disant catholique n’a pas voulu donné plus de détails non plus.
Dans le passé, cet établissement scolaire avait joui d’un grand prestige grâce à son enseignement attaché à la vraie doctrine catholique. Cependant, après le concile Vatican II, cette université a commencé à tomber dans une décadence exécrable.
En 2009, par exemple, elle a octroyé un doctorat au président Obama, alors qu’il est connu pour ses convictions en faveur de l’avortement et la contraception. Dans l’enceinte de l’établissement, plusieurs évènements anticatholiques ont eu lieu prônant la liberté sexuelle et hédonisme.
Un groupe d’étudiants et de parents lui ont envoyé des lettres de soutien et de remerciements pour tant d’années d’enseignement profond de la foi catholique. Ils veulent aussi que les autorités religieuses prennent part dans l’affaire et essaient d’intervenir pour que ce prêtre continue à faire tant de bien dans l’Université qui fut jadis « Catholique ».
