Le jeune homme de 24 ans s’est échappé par une fenêtre des toilettes, situées au premier étage.
Selon une source policière, l’homme, appartenant à la communauté des gens du voyage, serait coupable de « vols avec violence et délit de fuite après un accident de la circulation ».
Des recherches ont été effectuées à l’intérieur et aux abords de l’hôpital, et une équipe cynophile a remonté sa trace jusqu’à un arrêt de tramway, situé de l’autre côté de la Loire, mais l’évadé n’avait toujours pas été retrouvé.
La chancellerie a reconnu que, depuis le début de l’année, plus de 240 détenus se sont évadés lors d’une permission de sortie ou d’une hospitalisation, soit près d’une évasion par… jour !
