Un homme d’origine somalienne soupçonné de liens avec les islamistes shebab, a échappé à son contrôle judiciaire en revêtant une burqa.
La ministre de l’Intérieur Theresa May a confirmé que Mohammed Ahmed Mohamed, qui portait un bracelet permettant de le suivre à la trace et avait obligation de pointer quotidiennement dans un commissariat, avait été vu entrer dans une mosquée d’Acton (ouest de Londres) habillé à l’occidentale, pour en ressortir quelques heures plus tard en burqa, comme une femme. Des images de vidéosurveillance ont été diffusées par la police, montrant la scène originale.
L’homme se trouvait en régime de liberté surveillée spécifique pour prévention de terrorisme au titre de nouvelles dispositions adoptées en janvier 2012. Ces mesures s’appliquent aux personnes soupçonnées d’activités terroristes sans que la justice dispose de preuves suffisantes pour enclencher une procédure d’arrestation.
Selon des sources policières, Mohammed Ahmed Mohamed a séjourné dans un camp d’entraînement des shebab en Somalie, en 2008, et a favorisé l’entrée en Grande-Bretagne de « présumés terroristes », en provenance de Somalie.
