La personne soupçonnée s’appelle Mohamed Abdi Ali, interne en médecine à l’hôpital de Wote dans le sud du Kenya indique Joeseph Boinnet, inspecteur générale de la police kenyane dans un communiqué.
Dans son compte tweeter, il a précisé que Mohamed Abdi Ali est détenu conformément à la loi sur la prévention du terrorisme et est présenté devant la justice. Il est soupçonné d’être à la tête d’un réseau terroriste affilié à l’organisation terroriste Etat islamique et s’apprêtait à commettre de nouveau un attentat terroriste, mais beaucoup plus biologique contre le centre commercial westgate dans le sud du Kenya en utilisant de l’anthrax.
Mohamed Abdi Ali a recruté beaucoup d’étudiants kenyans au sein de l’université de Kamapala, la capitale de l’Ouganda voisine, où lui-même a étudié tout en facilitant certains d’entre eux d’aller en Syrie et en Libye.
Parmi les autres personnes arrêtées, figure Nusciba Mohammed Haji, son épouse, ancienne étudiante à l’université de Kampala, Fatuma Mohamed Hanshi, une complice. Deux autres internes en médecine, Ahmed Hish et Farah Dagane sont toujours recherchées par la police.
