Le gouvernement tunisien aurait autorisé l’implantation d’une base militaire américaine. C’est en tout cas ce que rapporte le journal Al Arab.
L’accord détaillé dans le journal permettrait aux États-Unis d’installer une base dans la région d’Hauaria , même si pour le moment il n’y a pas de calendrier pour cela.
Citant des sources des services de renseignement Italien , le journal précise que Washington aurait commencé à déplacer du matériel sur le territoire tunisien. La base serait une alternative à celle de la ville sicilienne de Niscemi.
Cependant, le porte-parole de la présidence tunisienne, Sinaui Moez, a réfuté ces informations tandis que les autorités américaines ont refusé de les commenter.
Le journal américain The Wall Street Journal a déclaré il y a quelques jours que le gouvernement américain était en pourparlers avec plusieurs pays d’Afrique du Nord à propos du déploiement de drones dans la zone pour augmenter la surveillance de groupe Etat islamique en Libye.
Des sources militaires américaines ont déclaré que les drones pourraient également être utilisés pour tirer sur des cibles de l’Etat islamique en Irak.
Le Wall Street Journal écrit qu’aucun pays en Afrique du Nord n’avait accepté pour le moment d’offrir ses bases pour le contrôle les drones.
La progression de l’Etat Islamique viendrait bien à point pour étendre la présence militaire américaine.
