Gaza – Des chars israéliens ont tiré de plein fouet leurs obus sur deux salles de classe d’une école de l’ONU ce mercredi matin. On dénombre au moins vingt morts.
De nombreux civils se sont réfugiés dans des écoles de l’UNRWA, un département de l’ONU, notamment à Jabaliya après avoir été avertis par Tsahal que leur quartier risquait de subir des bombardements massifs.
Chassés de chez eux par les combats, près de 180 000 habitants du territoire palestinien vivent dans des conditions très précaires dans 83 écoles gérées par l’UNRWA.
Plus de 1 200 morts
Plusieurs de ces établissements scolaires ont été touchés par les bombardements de l’armée israélienne. Le 24 juillet, un obus israélien avait frappé la cour d’un de ces établissements à Beit Hanoun et une quinzaine de Palestiniens y avaient péri.
Le bilan côté palestinien s’élève à 1 224 morts, pour la plupart des civils, depuis le début des hostilités. Côté israélien, 53 soldats et trois civils ont péri.
