Donald Trump ne veut pas de trans dans l’armée :
« Après une consultation avec mes généraux et mes experts militaires, a-t-il écrit sur twitter, on est prié de noter que le gouvernement des États-Unis ne consent pas et ne permet pas aux individus transgenres de servir à quelque poste que se soit dans aucune branche de l’armée américaine. »
L’intervention du président suit le renvoi de 6 mois du recrutement transgenre voulu par le prédécesseur de Trump, Barack Obama.
La décision de Trump représente une inversion de tendance par rapport à l’administration Obama :
« Nos militaires doivent être concentrés pour la victoire décisive, a expliqué le président des États-Unis. Ils ne peuvent donc pas être préoccupés par les énormes dépenses médicales et la ruine que les transgenres entraîneraient. »
