Trump avait dit que, lui président, les États-Unis arrêteraient de subventionner les lobbies pro-avortement. Il l’avait promis et il le fait.
Les premières coupes budgétaires de l’administration Trump concernent les subventions financières à ces organisations internationales qui prévoient l’assistance et les conseils sur l’avortement.
Selon les informations rendues publiques par le Département d’État, Washington a supprimé les financements au Fonds des Nations Unies pour la population (Unfpa), une agence qui promeut le planning familial dans plus de 150 pays et qui « soutient, ou participe à la gestion de, un programme d’avortement coercitif et de stérilisation involontaire. »
La nouvelle directive prévoit une coupe de 32,5 millions de dollars. L’argent qui était destiné à ce fonds de l’ONU sera « transféré et reprogrammé pour les programmes Global health » a fait savoir le Département d’État.
