Somalie – Les unités d’élite de la police ont mis fin ce matin au siège d’un hôtel de Mogadiscio par des djihadistes du mouvement islamique al-Shabaab.
Pendant le siège, au moins 18 personnes ont trouvé la mort. Les forces de sécurité ont tué les derniers assaillants islamistes à 08h30 heure locale, treize heures après le début de l’attaque de l’hôtel Maka Almukarama par al-Shabaab.
Au moment de l’attaque, des politiciens somaliens, des diplomates, des représentants du gouvernement et des journalistes étaient présents dans l’hôtel de luxe.
Selon le gouvernement, le Représentant permanent de la Somalie auprès de l’ONU à Genève, Yusuf Mohamed Ismail Bari-Bari, est l’une des victimes.
Pendant la nuit, des tirs et des explosions ont été entendus. Certains assaillants ont jeté des grenades sur les forces spéciales somaliennes. Tous les terroristes qui ont lancé l’attaque, ont été tués.
L’attaque avait commencé vendredi après-midi avec un attentat suicide à l’aide d’une voiture piégée, suivi d’un deuxième kamikaze qui s’est fait exploser à l’extérieur du bâtiment. Armés de mitrailleuses et de lance-roquettes, des djihadistes avaient pris d’assaut le bâtiment, tuant et blessant des clients et du personnel.
