Le rapport de l’ONUSIDA datant du 18 juillet montre des résultats inégaux dans la lutte contre l’épidémie, avec notamment des succès obtenus en Afrique mais une aggravation en Asie du nord. Voici l’évolution du taux d’infection des adultes de plus de 15 ans entre 2010 et 2017 :

• Pays en très nette amélioration (-50 %) : Cambodge, Mongolie, Népal.
• Pays en nette amélioration (-25 %) : Afrique du Sud, Arménie, Autriche, Botswana, France, Kenya, Kirghizistan, Malawi, Mauritanie, Myanmar, Ouganda, Pays-Bas, Portugal, Sierra Leone, Swaziland.
• Pays en relative amélioration (-5 %) : Albanie, Bulgarie, Cameroun, Centrafrique, République Démocratique du Congo, Cuba, Danemark, République Dominicaine, Espagne, Estonie, Gambie, Géorgie, Guatemala, Guinée Bissau, Guyana, Haïti, Indonésie, Iran, Lesotho, Maroc, Mozambique, Namibie, Nicaragua, Niger, Norvège, Pérou, Roumanie, Rwanda, Salvador, Sénégal, Serbie, Somalie, Sri Lanka, Tanzanie, Ukraine, Uruguay, Zambie.
• Pays en statut-quo (-5/+5 %) : Angola, Bolivie, Brésil, Equateur, Gabon, Ghana, Guinée, Italie, Japon, Moldavie, Nigeria, Paraguay, Soudan du Sud, Tadjikistan, Tchad.
• Pays en dégradation relative (+5 %) : Argentine, Australie, Azerbaïdjan, Bangladesh, Belize ; Bénin, Botswana, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Guinée Equatoriale, Honduras, Liberia, Malaisie, Mali, Mexique, Niger, Panama, Papouasie-Nouvelle-Guinée, Slovénie, Soudan, Tunisie.
• Pays en dégradation (+25 %) : Algérie, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chypre, Costa Rica, Erythrée, Ethiopie, Grèce, Hongrie, Kosovo, Koweït, Lituanie, Macédoine du nord, Ouzbékistan, Pakistan, Qatar, Russie, Surinam.
• Pays en nette dégradation (+50 %) : Chili, Egypte, Kazakhstan, Koweït, Madagascar, Philippines, Slovaquie, Tchéquie.

Le continent africain est le plus ravagé par l’épidémie, mais de manière inégale :

– Plus de 15 % de la population infectée : Afrique du Sud, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibie, Swaziland, Zambie, Zimbabwe.

– Entre 5 et 15 % : Cameroun, Centrafrique, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Kenya, Malawi, Ouganda, Tanzanie.

– Entre 2 et 5 % : Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, République Démocratique du Congo, Djibouti, Erythrée, Ethiopie, Gambie, Ghana, Guinée, Guinée Bissau, Guinée Equatoriale, Liberia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tchad, Togo.

– Entre 1 et 2 % : Bénin, Mali, Niger, Sierra Leone, Soudan, Soudan du Sud.

– Entre 0,5 et 1 % : Madagascar, Mauritanie, Sénégal, Somalie

– Entre 0,1 et 0,5 % : Algérie, Maroc

– Moins de 0,1 % : Egypte, Libye.

Rappelons que le SIDA est la première cause de décès en Afrique du Sud, au Botswana, au Cameroun, en Centrafrique, au Congo, à Djibouti, au Gabon, en Guinée Equatoriale, au Kenya, au Lesotho, au Malawi, en Namibie, en Ouganda, au Swaziland, en Tanzanie, en Zambie et au Zimbabwe. Il tue environ 940.000 personnes par an, contre 1,9 million il y a 10 ans. Il y a actuellement 36,9 millions de séropositifs dans le monde, dont 22,4 millions prennent des traitements. La lutte pour le SIDA dans le tiers-monde coûte 21,9 milliards de $ par an, et il en manque 7 pour atteindre l’efficacité optimale.
