Point n’est besoin de présenter ici Charles Maurras, journaliste, écrivain, poète et penseur monarchiste.
Les années 1908 à 1913 sont souvent qualifiées d’âge d’or de l’Action française et de ce qu’il est convenu d’appeler le « maurrassisme ». Ce livre réédité par Kontre Kulture est un ouvrage mythique de cette époque, une sorte de bréviaire pour nombre de générations de royalistes, mais aussi de nationalistes. Maurras et les militants d’Action française savaient très bien que ce n’est pas par la voie électorale que l’on peut venir à bout d’un régime. L’Action française en appelle donc au coup de force et se définit alors comme un mouvement le préparant à ciel ouvert ! L’argumentation est publiée dans la revue de l’AF au début de 1908, puis réunie en 1910 dans une brochure qui fera grand bruit : Si le coup de force est possible.
