En 2018, le célèbre auteur et dissident russe Alexandre Soljenitsyne aurait eu 100 ans. Répondant à une proposition du gouvernement, le président Vladimir Poutine a décidé que, compte tenu de l’importance de l’œuvre d’Alexandre Soljenitsyne pour la culture russe, cet anniversaire devait être fêté dignement. Le gouvernement a donc reçu des instructions pour faire de 2018 une année de célébration de la mémoire de ce grand nom de la littérature russe du XXème siècle.
Prix Nobel de littérature 1970, expulsé d’URSS en 1974 pour ses écrits anticommunistes, Alexandre Soljenitsyne (1918-2008) est, entre autres, l’auteur de Une journée d’Ivan Denissovitch, Le pavillon des cancéreux, L’archipel du goulag, L’erreur de l’Occident, La roue rouge. Orthodoxe et profondément attaché à sa terre natale, Alexandre Soljenitsyne est rentré dans sa patrie en 1994. En 2007, le président Vladimir Poutine lui décernait le Prix d’Etat.
