Richard Ruben fait partie de ces humoristes modernes qui s’affirment humbles mais se prennent très au sérieux.
Du 5 au 27 juillet, il devrait se produire au Festival d’Avignon. Sauf si, entre-temps, la cité des Papes était tombée dans l’escarcelle de « l’extrême droite ».
Car l’extrême droite, c’est un peu l’épouvantail favori de Richard Ruben. Ce 26 mars, il accordait un entretien à Vlan, un journal gratuit bruxellois. Personne n’a eu la bonne idée de lui rappeler que ce titre de presse avait été fondé dans les années trente par un certain… Léon Degrelle, leader du parti REX. Et le devoir de mémoire, Richard ?
Extrait de l’entretien :
« Je suis contre tous les racismes. J’ai des origines juives mais être juif ne signifie pas être religieux. Je suis agnostique. Par contre, je crois à l’importance de connaître ses origines et de les défendre, tout en les confrontant aux autres. Il ne faut jamais renoncer à ses racines mais comprendre aussi que nous vivons dans une société de plus en plus métissée et cosmopolite. L’immigration est une richesse et rapporte bien plus qu’elle ne coûte. Sans elle, l’Europe irait à la ruine.«

Il a même commis un livre, Je vous ai apporté mes bons mots, dont le journal nous offre quelques aphorismes pris au hasard :
« Populisme : Mot politiquement correct pour définir l’extrême-droite. Je me refuse à confondre l’extrême-droite et l’extrême-gauche. »
T’as raison, Richard, faut pas confondre ! L’extrême gauche, c’est tout de même 100 millions de morts du communisme…
