Notons d’abord que les partisans de l’avortement n’ont obtenu que 42 % des inscrits en Irlande (1 429 981 voix pour 3 367 556 insctrits). Il ne sont donc pas vraiment majoritaires. Ils n’ont gagné que grâce aux 36% des inscrits qui se sont abstenus.Les opposants à l’avortement ont obtenu 723 632 NON (33,6% des suffrages exprimés, contre 66,4% des suffrages exprimés pour les oui).
La campagne des opposants à l’avortement a été en partie efficace car, lorsque la campagne a commencé à l’automne dernier, les partisans de l’avortement étaient donné à plus de 50% des inscrits. Ils n’ont pas hésité à dénoncer l’avortement pour ce qu’il est, c’est-à-dire un meurtre. Ils ont également montré l’horreur de l’avortement par des photos d’enfants avortés.
Les partisans de l’avortement ont eux, bénéficié d’une publicité massive et coûteuse, notamment de la part des entreprises du milliardaire Soros. Il y a peut-être moyen de contester le résultat du vote car, rappelons-le, la loi irlandaise interdit aux entreprises étrangères (publiques ou privées) de financer une campagne électorale en Irlande.
Par ailleurs, le comté de Donegal a voté non à l’avortement à 52% des suffrages exprimés (35 091 NON pour 32 559 oui). C’est malheureusement le seul à avoir voté non. Il sauve néanmoins l’honneur.
La modification de la constitution qui devrait donc avoir lieu n’indique pas, toutefois, à quel point l’avortement va être légalisé. Cela dépendra des résultats des « discussions » parlementaires à venir.
Continuons donc à prier et à faire des sacrifices pour sauver le plus possible d’enfants à naître en Irlande. Et en France aussi, bien sûr.
