Communiqué de l’association SOS Chrétiens d’Orient
Chers amis,
Lundi 20 janvier, quatre de nos collaborateurs ont disparu à Bagdad. Ils devaient se rendre en voiture à un rendez-vous en fin d’après-midi. Après plusieurs tentatives de contact restées infructueuses toute la journée de mardi, nous avons constaté leur disparition mercredi et avons donc immédiatement alerté les autorités françaises. Aujourd’hui, les autorités françaises et irakiennes se coordonnent pour enquêter et retrouver leur trace.
Ces collaborateurs s’étaient rendus à Bagdad pour réaliser un certain nombre de formalités administratives : renouveler leurs visas et poursuivre la procédure d’enregistrement de l’association auprès des autorités irakiennes. Ils devaient par ailleurs faire un suivi des opérations de l’association en Irak, dont l’ouverture d’une nouvelle école.
Pour des raisons de sécurité et en accord avec les autorités, nous ne pouvons pas communiquer à ce stade leur identité. Ce sont quatre salariés expérimentés, en bonne santé et avec une parfaite connaissance des zones de crise.
A ce jour, nous n’avons reçu aucune demande de rançon, ni information sur le sort de nos quatre amis et collaborateurs. Nous sommes bien entendu en contact étroit avec leurs familles. L’association et toutes nos équipes partagent leur terrible inquiétude.
Nous précisons que cette mission avait été organisée en parfaite coordination avec les autorités consulaires françaises en Irak. Nos collaborateurs résidaient tous dans un hôtel qui fait partie des établissements qui reçoivent régulièrement du personnel international et suivaient un protocole de sécurité adapté à la région. Ces procédures comprennent des plans régulièrement audités par des experts indépendants, des formations du personnel, une veille sécuritaire active et une équipe de soutien à Paris mobilisable à tout moment. La mise à jour de nos procédures de sécurité est permanente et va être adaptée aux nouvelles menaces.
