Le 29 mars à l’entrée principale du Campus San Joaquin de l’Université pontificale catholique (UC) de Santiago du Chili des inconnus ont profané la croix avec une représentation d’une femme avortant.
Sur la croix, utilisée pour le chemin de croix du Vendredi Saint, ils ont placé l’image d’une femme crucifiée et nue, avec du sang sur ses organes génitaux et avec une poupée simulant le bébé dans l’utérus.
Le vice-chancelier de l’Université catholique, le Père Cristián Roncagliolo a déclaré que « profaner une croix est un acte qui viole la foi des personnes ».
Jusqu’à présent, les responsables n’ont pas été identifiés. L’image a provoqué l’indignation dans la communauté universitaire.
Le Président de la Fondation Chili Siempre, José Francisco Lagos, a estimé que ce qui est arrivé résulte du débat sur l’avortement et a déploré une « violence particulièrement intolérante ».
«C’est beaucoup plus grave que les insultes sur les réseaux sociaux parce que les gens qui ont la foi sont ouvertement insultées ».
Même la porte-parole de la jeunesse universitaire communiste, Fernanda Pérez, a désapprouvé de tels faits.
