Tout le monde, ou presque, connaît Premier de cordée, le roman à succès de Roger Frison-Roche. Jean-François Vivier et Pierre-Emmanuel Dequest ont eu la bonne idée d’adapter en bande dessinée ce célèbre roman d’alpinisme.
Premier de cordée est d’abord paru en feuilleton dans le journal La Dépêche Algérienne avant d’être édité par Arthaud, spécialisé dans la littérature de montagne. C’est un roman autobiographique racontant la vie à la fois extraordinaire et difficile des guides de montagne de la vallée de Chamonix.
La montagne est parfois cruelle avec ceux qui la défient ! Mais Pierre Servettaz, personnage central de cette histoire, considère qu’il faut aussi être capable de risquer sa vie pour en apprécier toute la saveur. A travers lui, ce sont les valeurs éternelles d’abnégation et de courage qui sont mises en avant.
70 ans après la publication du roman, cette adaptation réussie en bande dessinée pourrait à son tour susciter quelques vocations alpines.
