Le 29 avril dernier, le dessinateur Luz a affirmé qu’il ne dessinera plus le personnage de Mahomet, en brandissant le dernier dessin qui a provoqué une polémique internationale, paru dans le numéro de Charlie Hebdo du 14 janvier, peu de jours après l’attaque terroriste dont les locaux de ce journal ont été la cible. Ce dessin représentait Mahomet tenant une pancarte « Je suis Charlie », versant une larme sous un titre « Tout est pardonné ».
Cette caricature a été jugée comme associant l’ensemble des communautés musulmanes à cet acte terroriste, irritant la plupart des musulmans du monde dont une partie a réagi violemment.
Luz prétend dans l’entretien qu’il a accordé au magazine « Les Inrocks » : « Je ne dessinerai plus le personnage de Mahomet, il ne m’intéresse plus. Je m’en suis lassé, tout comme celui de Sarkozy. Je ne vais pas passer ma vie à les dessiner ».
Mais nous venons d’apprendre que le 14 avril dernier, Charlie Hebdo a été assigné en justice par un « descendant du Prophète Mahomet » pour injure, réclamant des dommages et intérêts d’un montant important à ce journal.
La première audience de procédure se tiendra le 28 courant à 13h30 à la 17ème Chambre correctionnelle du Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris.
En prélude à sa défense, Charlie Hebdo publie aujourd’hui un article s’attaquant à l’avocat qui a initié cette action, Maître Elie Hatem.
Il a fallu du courage à cet avocat, de confession catholique, pour défendre la décence et le respect des croyants musulmans.
