Une nouvelle directive de la City University of New York a de quoi laisser pantois : l’administration et les professeurs ne pourront plus utiliser les termes «Monsieur» et «Madame» lorsqu’ils communiquent avec les étudiants, rapporte le Wall Street Journal.
La nouvelle directive entre en vigueur dès le printemps 2015 et signifie que, dans leur correspondance, les employés du centre doctoral de l’université se limiteront au nom complet des étudiants ou des futurs étudiants.
Louise Lennihan, directrice de la City University of New York, a expliqué que la mesure visait à respecter l’identité des personnes transgenres ou de celles qui ne s’identifient pas comme un homme ou une femme et à développer un environnement ouvert et favorable aux personnes transgenres.
Sans surprise, les lobbies LGBT se félicitent de cette directive.
