Afek Oil and Gas, compagnie pétrolière américaine, devrait bientôt débuter des forages sur le plateau du Golan. Précisons qu’Afek Oil and Gas est une filiale du groupe Genie Energy Ltd.
Parmi les actionnaires du conseil d’administration de Genie Energy Ltd, on retrouve l’ancien vice-président américain Dick Cheney, le milliardaire Rupert Murdoch, magnat des médias, le banquier et homme politique britannique Jacob Rothschild, ainsi que le politicien israélien Effi Eitam, ex-brigadier-général de l’armée israélienne et ancien ministre israélien des Infrastructures, qui réside actuellement sur le plateau du Golan.
L’Etat israélien a décerné à Afek Oil and Gas les droits exclusifs sur les forages dans un rayon d’environ 400 km2 au sud du plateau du Golan.
Rappelons qu’Israël s’est emparé du plateau du Golan lors de la guerre des Six Jours en 1967, et a annexé et occupé ce territoire en 1981 en violation du droit international.
La recherche de pétrole sur le plateau du Golan pourrait contribuer à expliquer l’aide israélienne aux djihadistes syriens.
Des rapports rédigés par des observateurs de l’ONU sur le plateau du Golan, des révélations de druzes israéliens et même des articles de la presse israélienne convergent pour dire que l’armée israélienne a apporté des soins et de l’assistance à des membres d’al-Qaïda, du Front al-Nosra, et de l’Etat islamique (EI).
Ces relations étroites entre Israël et différentes factions islamistes hostiles au président Bachar al-Assad auraient un double intérêt : non seulement favoriser le renversement du président syrien auquel Israël voue une haine féroce mais aussi obtenir que les « rebelles » syriens renoncent à leurs revendications sur le plateau du Golan.
