Philippe Vande Walle est un ancien gardien de foot des Diables Rouges (surnom de l’équipe nationale belge).  Il est aujourd’hui consultant pour une émission de foot sur la chaîne RTBF. Il a eû le malheur de tweeter dimanche matin : « Bakkali Diable Rouge… »J’sais pas encore »!!!… Ça commence à me pomper l’air!!!!Des »Purs Belges »(Meunier,Vossen) viennent en rampant ».

Zakaria Bakkali, c’est un jeune joueur talentueux belge, d’origine marocaine. Il avait donc la possibilité de jouer pour la Belgique ou le Maroc. Ce choix d’équipes nationales est très courant dans le foot. Dans les catégories espoirs, le joueur a encore le choix. Seulement quand on arrive dans l’équipe A, le choix est alors définitif. Aucun changement n’est possible. En général, soit les joueurs choisissent l’équipe où le challenge est le plus intéressant soit l’équipe où ils ont la possibilité d’être souvent sélectionné. Je crois rarement au coup du cœur même si ça arrive. Or cela fait plusieurs semaines que c’est la chronique Bakkali, choisira ou choisira pas ? Le jeune prodige a mis du temps à choisir, envoyant des signaux contraires aux fédérations !  Il a enfin acté son choix en déclarant qu’il jouerait pour la Belgique : « J’ai choisi la Belgique et je suis très content. Je vais jouer avec mon coeur ici ». La Fédération hollandaise avait aussi tenté de le naturaliser pour qu’il puisse jouer dans l’équipe nationale  (ndlr le joueur joue dans un club hollandais le PSV Eindhoven). Quel cœur après avoir mis des mois à choisir ?

Ce tweet a donc fait beaucoup réagir. Vande Walle a été immédiatement suspendu d’antenne. Il devait s’expliquer hier devant les directeurs de l’information et des sports. Il y a certaines choses qu’il ne vaut mieux pas dire. S’il a été maladroit dans sa formulation, la réalité c’est qu’aujourd’hui les sélections nationales sont devenues un vrai trafic. On s’arrache les joueurs et on est prêt à tout pour obtenir un joueur talentueux. Le cœur dans tout ça et la fierté de jouer pour l’équipe de son pays…c’est du bidon pour certains ! L’équipe nationale n’est simplement devenu qu’un club comme un autre !
