Les deux branches de la famille Rothschild étaient en conflit depuis plusieurs années au sujet de l’utilisation de leur nom. Ce vendredi matin, elles ont annoncé un accord selon lequel ni la banque d’affaires Rothschild & Co, ni le groupe de banque privée et de gestion d’actifs Edmond de Rothschild, soit les deux groupes financiers familiaux, n’auront le droit à l’avenir d’utiliser le nom « Rothschild » seul.
Pratiquement, cela ne signifie quasiment aucun changement pour le groupe Rothschild & Co (anciennement appelé Paris Orléans), dirigé depuis peu par Alexandre de Rothschild, fils de David de Rothschild, et dont les activités s’étendent dans la banque d’affaires mais aussi dans la banque privée. La seule modification porte sur ses activités de banque privée et gestion d’actifs exercées en France, en Belgique et à Monaco qui se feront désormais sous l’appellation Rothschild Martin Maurel.
Aucun changement pour le Groupe Edmond de Rothschild, dirigé par Ariane de Rothschild, qui avait porté la question devant les tribunaux, mécontent que le groupe Rothschild & Co, notamment basé à Paris et à Londres, utilise le nom familial.
Les deux groupes ont également annoncé qu’ils avaient décidé de mettre fin à leurs participations croisées.
