Jacques Bainville (1879-1936), monarchiste, brillant écrivain, fervent amoureux de la France, fut membre de l’Académie française.
Ami du Maréchal Lyautey, Jacques Bainville souhaitait pour la France une grande, belle, sérieuse politique extérieure et intérieure. Cette politique était celle des rois capétiens. Il laissa une œuvre entièrement dédiée à ce modèle politique.
Sa magistrale Histoire de France fut et reste un succès de librairie. Mais Jacques Bainville eut aussi l’excellente idée de rédiger une Petite histoire de France pour les enfants que les éditions Diffusia viennent de rééditer sous la forme d’un album mis en page de façon très pédagogique et assorti de plus de 300 illustrations qui mélangent les anciens dessins des grands illustrateurs Gustave Doré, Job, Albert Robida et bien d’autres, mais aussi de nombreuses photos. Le résultat est très réussi et nous emmène de Vercingétorix à nos jours, retrouver tous les grands personnages qui ont fait la France : Clovis, Charles Martel, Charlemagne, Hugues Capet, Saint Louis, Jeanne d’Arc, Richelieu,…
Cet album fera un très beau cadeau pour la Saint Nicolas ou les fêtes de Noël.
