Pays-Bas – Le groupe de coordination des communautés juives néerlandaises a lancé une enquête concernant un rabbin local accusé de pédophilie aux États-Unis.
Il y a quelques jours, l’organisation des communautés juives aux Pays-Bas a annoncé l’ouverture d’une enquête à l’encontre du rabbin Mendel Levine de Brooklyn, venu officier aux Pays-Bas dans la communauté juive de la ville de Nijmegen en 2009.
Cette annonce du groupe de coordination des communautés juives néerlandaises fait suite à un article publié par le journal néerlandais De Telegraaf décrivant les accusations portées contre le rabbin Levine dès 2011.
En 2011, Meyer Seewald, qui œuvre aujourd’hui pour Crown Heights, une association qui dénonce les agressions sexuelles pédophiles commises au sein des communautés juives, déclarait avoir été victime de pédophilie en 2000 alors qu’il participait au camp d’été du réseau Gan Israël, où le rabbin Levine était conseiller.
Contacté par des journalistes aux Pays-Bas, le rabbin Levine a refusé de commenter les accusations à son encontre.
Le journal Telegraaf avait aussi publié le témoignage d’une deuxième victime présumée du rabbin Levine : « J’ai entendu l’histoire de Seewald et j’ai été choqué. C’était exactement ce qui m’était arrivé. Dans le Michigan, en 2001. ». « Le moniteur Levine m’a pris à part, m’a déshabillé et a commencé à étaler de la lotion sur mes parties intimes. Je me demandais ce qu’il se passait. Je ne cherche pas à me venger, mais ça m’a traumatisé. »
Par ailleurs, le tribunal d’Amsterdam a décidé le mois dernier de maintenir en détention préventive pendant la durée de son procès Ephraim Schrijver, un Juif hollandais de 30 ans, accusé de viols sur quatre enfants.
Ephraim Schrijver, 30 ans, avait immigré en Israël en 2012 après avoir été licencié de son poste d’enseignant à l’école juive orthodoxe de Buitenveldert, près d’Amsterdam. Mais il a été extradé aux Pays-Bas en 2016.
