Depuis quelques années, il est possible de louer des manifestants. Aux Etats-Unis et en Allemagne, la pratique semble déjà courante pour les organisations qui en ont les moyens financiers.
Il semblerait que de tels manifestants rémunérés aient été recrutés pour accueillir les migrants dans les gares allemandes et autrichiennes. L’enthousiasme des populations pour acclamer les immigrés ne serait donc pas toujours très spontané.
Karl Richter, conseiller municipal (NPD) de Munich, a d’ailleurs demandé aux autorités munichoises d’enquêter sur une étrange annonce publiée par une agence de travail intérimaire, l’entreprise viennoise « Easystaff human & ressources GmbH » :

Mais dans différentes villes allemandes et autrichiennes, des personnes venues applaudir les « réfugiés » ont reconnu avoir reçu de l’argent en échange de leur présence.
