Fin octobre, la presse locale s’était emparée de ce qu’elle présentait comme un nouveau fait divers raciste et islamophobe : des tags injurieux écrits en arabe sur les murs extérieurs de la mosquée de Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques). L’association cultuelle en charge de la mosquée avait porté plainte.
Il n’aura pas été besoin de plus de trois semaines pour apprendre que l’auteur des faits n’est autre que l’imam de la mosquée lui-même ! Il a fini par se dénoncer lui-même au commissariat de police.
Il est convoqué au tribunal le 8 janvier prochain pour une comparution sur reconnaissance préalable de culpabilité.
Dans le climat général de discours antiracistes et d’appels solennels à sauver la République assaillie par l’extrême droite, les médias officiels n’ont pas jugé utile d’accorder une grande importance à l’issue de ce fait divers.
