Il est de coutume que le pays d’accueil des Jeux olympiques présente à l’Assemblée générale de l’ONU un projet de résolution appelant symboliquement à la « trêve olympique ». Il s’agit là d’une belle tradition héritée de la Grèce antique où cette trêve était loyalement respectée, permettant ainsi aux compétiteurs de se rendre à Olympie, puis de rentrer dans leur foyer en toute sécurité.
En vue des Jeux olympiques d’hiver 2014 qui se dérouleront à Sotchi en février prochain, c’est cette semaine que l’Assemblée générale a examiné et voté le projet de résolution de la Russie. Le texte proposé stipulait que les JO sont ouverts aux personnes de « différents âges, sexes, facultés physiques, religions, races et statuts sociaux ». Banal, normal ? Pas pour tout le monde : certains délégués ont réclamé que soient cités homosexuels et transsexuels comme étant également les bienvenus. Une telle mention, totalement absente des résolutions précédentes, serait rendue nécessaire par la loi russe interdisant la promotion auprès des mineurs des orientations sexuelles « non-traditionnelles ».
Par conséquent, cette résolution qui, normalement, aurait dû être adoptée presque immédiatement, après un simple examen « pour la forme », a finalement donné lieu à plusieurs jours de discussions. La partie russe étant peu pressée de satisfaire les simagrées du lobby « LGBT », le texte a simplement été enrichi d’une exhortation à « l’intégration sociale, rejetant toute discrimination ».
Tout ça pour ça. Heureusement que le ridicule ne tue pas.
