Le Théâtre Royal de Toone fait partie du folklore bruxellois. Ce petit théâtre de marionnettes existe depuis 1830, l’année de l’indépendance de la Belgique. Les spectacles sont joués en dialecte bruxellois et s’inspirent des légendes populaires.
L’écrivain Michel de Ghelderode avait rendu un bel hommage à ce théâtre des Marolles qui abrite également un estaminet où l’on sert d’authentiques bières bruxelloises ainsi qu’un musée de la marionnette bruxelloise.
Or, ce véritable patrimoine bruxellois est en danger. Trop enraciné, il ne plait plus aux fonctionnaires issus du milieu bobo en charge de déterminer ce qui doit être promu et soutenu par le ministère de la Culture.
L’association sans but lucratif Théâtre Royal de Toone lance un appel à l’aide au travers d’une pétition en ligne.
Le Conseil de l’Art dramatique veut récupérer le budget alloué au Théâtre Royal de Toone et on nous annonce dès lors que notre subvention diminuera de 5% en 2016 et sera supprimée dès 2017 avec l’intention de nous retirer le statut « Culture ». Cela signifie la fermeture du Théâtre Royal de Toone en septembre 2016! Nous demandons à la Ministre de la Culture, Madame Joëlle Milquet, de trouver une solution afin de maintenir le subventionnement du Théâtre Royal de Toone.
