Les données de la Commission Santé de l’OCDE sur l’obésité dans les 35 pays membres, datant de juin 2017, viennent d’être publiées. La France, avec un taux d’obésité de 15,3 % d’adultes au-dessus de 15 ans, pour une moyenne de l’OCDE de 19,5 %, occupe une 26e place sur 35., ce qui peut paraître étonnant tant la France est le pays de la gastronomie et aussi, hélas, celui des fast-foods.
Le triste podium de l’obésité est constitué des Etats-Unis (38,2 %), du Mexique (32,4 %) et de la Nouvelle-Zélande (30,7 %).
Le glorieux podium de la minceur est constitué du Japon (3,7 %), de la Corée du Sud (5,3 %) et de l’Italie (9,8 %).
On peut diviser les 35 pays en plusieurs strates :
- Plus de 35 % d’obèses : les Etats-Unis
- Plus de 30 % d’obèses : le Mexique, la Nouvelle-Zélande déjà cités et la Hongrie (30 %)
- Plus de 25 % d’obèses : l’Australie (27,9 %), la Grande-Bretagne (26,9 %), le Canada (25,8 %) et le Chili (25,1 %)
- Plus de 20 % d’obèses : la Finlande (24,8 %), l’Allemagne (23,6 %), l’Irlande (23 %), le Luxembourg (22,6 %), la Turquie (22,3 %), la Lettonie (21,3 %) et la Tchéquie (21 %)
- Plus de 15 % d’obèses : la Slovénie (19,2 %), l’Islande (19 %), la Belgique (18,6 %), l’Estonie (18 %), Israël (17,8 %), la Grèce (17 %), l’Espagne (16,7 %), la Pologne (16,7 %), le Portugal (16,6 %), la Slovaquie (16,3) et la France.
- Plus de 10 % d’obèses : le Danemark (14,9 %), l’Autriche (14,7 %), les Pays-Bas (12,8 %), la Suède (12,3 %), la Norvège (12 %) et la Suisse (10,3%)
- Plus de 5 % d’obèses : l’Italie et la Corée du Sud
- Moins de 5 % d’obèses : le Japon.
