Suite à la 1ère alarme incendie déclenchée à 18H20 le 15/4/2019, le lieu indiqué par le système était le toit de la sacristie.

Le personnel de sécurité n’avait rien constaté sur place. Le voyant rouge s’étant maintenu, une autre équipe est montée, dans le doute, voir la charpente de la cathédrale (appelée communément « La forêt ») et a alors découvert des flammes de 3 mètres de haut.

La non-fiabilité du système d’alerte incendie avait déjà été signalé au Centre des monuments nationaux mais celui-ci n’avait pas encore réagi, semble-t’il, le 15 avril 2019.
