Norvège – La Gauche socialiste veut mettre à son programme l’interdiction de la circoncision rituelle des enfants. Selon plusieurs élus de la gauche norvégienne, la circoncision rituelle des enfants n’est ni plus ni moins qu’une forme d’agression physique sur enfants.
Le parti de gauche propose un âge minimum de 15 ans pour les circoncisions sans raison médicale, à condition que les jeunes adolescents donnent leur accord.
Les juifs font circoncire les bébés à l’âge de huit jours, pendant une cérémonie rituelle appelée brit milah. Les musulmans font circoncire les garçons avant l’âge de 13 ans. Autant dire que ces deux communautés ont bien l’intention de faire du lobbying pour bloquer cette proposition.
Beaucoup d’Européens perçoivent pourtant la circoncision rituelle des enfants, pratiquée par les juifs et les musulmans, comme un acte de barbarie.
« Ceux qui cherchent une interdiction agissent avec une intolérance et un ethnocentrisme de la pire sorte. Ils se placent sur un piédestal et pensent que deux milliards d’habitants dans le monde ont tort. », a déclaré Ervin Kohn, un dirigeant de la Communauté juive de Norvège, à l’agence de presse NTB.
Pourtant, de nombreux pays européens ont déjà interdit les mutilations génitales pratiquées sur les jeunes filles selon des usages ancestraux, notamment chez les Africains subsahariens.
Les abattages rituels des animaux, pratiques communes aux juifs et aux musulmans, suscitent également une indignation croissante parmi l’opinion publique européenne.
