Le gouvernement irakien a officiellement déclaré le 25 décembre fête nationale en commémoration de « la naissance de Jésus-Christ ».
Tous les citoyens irakiens. et pas seulement les chrétiens, auront désormais congé le 25 décembre.
Le gouvernement irakien a adressé ses vœux de Noël via son compte Twitter officiel:
«Joyeux Noël pour nos citoyens chrétiens, pour tous les Iraquiens et pour tous ceux qui le célèbrent dans le monde entier. Nous adressons nos vœux les plus chaleureux aux chrétiens d’Irak et du monde entier pour un Noël très heureux et paisible. «
La population chrétienne d’Irak avait particulièrement souffert durant les dernières années, victime de l’Etat Islamique.
