Nigéria – Ce dimanche 6 août, un homme armé a attaqué une église catholique faisant au moins 11 morts et 18 blessés. L’attaque a eu lieu lors de la messe le dimanche à St. Philips Ozubulu dans Ekwusigo, zone de l’Etat d’Anambra.
Le commissaire de police, Garba Omar, a déclaré à l’Agence Nouvelles du Nigeria (NAN) que l’attaque ne provenait pas d’un terroriste envoyé par le groupe islamiste Boko Haram, mais a été réalisée par une personne issue de la région. « Des résultats de l’enquête, il est clair que la personne qui a dirigé l’attaque doit être originaire de la région », a-t-il dit.
Selon le commissaire de police, « les fidèles attendaient le début de la messe du dimanche à 06h00 à Saint-Philippe Ozobulu, quand un homme armé, habillé de noir et le visage masqué, est entré dans l’église et a ouvert le feu « .
Toujours selon la police, l’attaquant a parlé en langue Igbo.
« Un tel comportement montre que ces gens ne craignent pas Dieu, », a conclu le commissaire.
