Comme dans le Bouchonnois il y a le bon et le mauvais chasseur, dans la presse, il y a le bon et le mauvais Samuel Laurent. Nous avons vu le premier démonter la genèse de la porcherie de l’UNEF. Le second, qui se veux parangon de la vérité vraie si je mens, a encore été pris les doigts dans le pot à fake news. Le 9 mars 2018, le propagandiste du quotidien vespéral déclarait sur France-5 lors de l’émission C à vous : « C’est vrai, les pays du Golfe sont pas les plus accueillants au niveau des réfugiés au monde, mais ils en accueillent. Le Koweït par exemple, ce sont toujours les mêmes chiffres de 2015, 94000 réfugiés accueillis. L’Arabie Saoudite, 70.000. Et même un petit pays comme le Qatar accueille environ 1500 réfugiés ». Il se fonde sur une interprétation (volontairement ?) erronée des pages 60 à 64 du rapport 2016 du Haut-Commissariat aux Réfugiés des Nations Unies (UNHCR), qui donne effectivement 94.000 personnes au Koweït, 70.000 en Arabie Saoudite et 1.500 au Qatar.

En effet, il ne donne pas les chiffres de la bonne colonne. Si effectivement les chiffres sont exacts en un sens, ce sont ceux de la colonne « Persons under UNHCR’s statelesness mandate » (personnes relevant du mandat du Haut-Commissariat aux Réfugiés des Nations Unies relatif à l’apatridie). On parle d’apatrides et non de réfugiés. Pour le Koweït, il peut s’agir notamment des Palestiniens ayant perdu leur nationalité lors de la guerre du Golfe de 1991. Il suffit de regarder 6 colonnes plus à gauche, les vrais chiffres des réfugiés accueillis en 2016 y sont : 939 pour le Koweït, 140 pour l’Arabie Saoudite et 177 pour le Qatar.

Laurent évoquait également le rapport 2015. Dans la colonne qu’il mettait en exergue, on trouvait les chiffres suivants : 94.000 personnes au Koweït, 70.000 en Arabie Saoudite et 1.200 au Qatar, les vrais chiffres des réfugiés accueillis en 2016 y sont : 741 pour le Koweït, 125 pour l’Arabie Saoudite et 120 pour le Qatar. Les chiffres compris dans les pages 58 et 59 au Rapport 2009 sont exactement les mêmes que ceux de 2015 pour les apatrides et de 221 (Koweït), 575 (Arabie Saoudite) et 29 (Qatar), pour les vrais réfugiés…

Et pour enfoncer le clou pour montrer que Samuel Lafont ne s’est pas trompé de bonne foi mais nous a bel et bien menti, cette petite phrase : « Les pays du Golfe, dont le Qatar, les Émirats arabes unis, l’Arabie saoudite, le Koweït et Bahreïn, ont offert zéro place d’accueil pour les réfugiés syriens. ». La source ? Les réfugiés syriens en quelques chiffres, article du site d’Amesty International, 3 février2016…
