Etats-Unis – Les catholiques pro-vie qui souhaitent que les dirigeants de l’Église catholique se lèvent et refusent la communion aux politiciens qui soutiennent l’avortement obtiennent de bonnes nouvelles aujourd’hui.
Mgr Thomas J. Paprocki, évêque de Springfield, Illinois, a annoncé qu’il refusait la communion au sénateur démocrate pro-avortement Dick Durbin, connu pour soutenir et promouvoir l’avortement. Le sénateur Durbin a notamment rejoint d’autres élus démocrates pour bloquer un projet de loi interdisant les avortements après 20 semaines.
Dans une déclaration diffusée sur le site Internet du diocèse de Springfield, Mgr Paprocki a déclaré: « Quatorze sénateurs catholiques ont voté contre le projet de loi qui interdirait les avortements à 20 semaines après la fécondation, y compris le sénateur Richard Durbin, dont le domicile se trouve dans le diocèse de Springfield. «
Mgr Thomas J. Paprocki a déclaré que le sénateur Durbin « coopère au mal » et persiste dans « le péché grave manifeste » en raison de son plaidoyer pour l’avortement et doit donc « ne pas être admis à la Sainte Communion jusqu’à ce qu’il se repente de son péché« .
